On Saturday, December 6th and Sunday, December 7th, activists, campaigners, and experts from around the world will gather for the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons’ (ICAN) civil society forum in Vienna! At this forum, various groups and individuals representing civil society will come together to discuss the humanitarian impacts of nuclear weapons and the steps needed in order to proceed with nuclear disarmament and abolition.

With the support of the Rideau Institute, former Operations Manager Kathleen Walsh and New York director of the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation Alice Slater will be attending the forum and tweeting about its events throughout the two days. (You can follow Kathleen’s tweets at @kat_a_walsh.)

The ICAN civil society forum occurs just days before governments from around the world meet for theĀ Vienna Conference on the Humanitarian Impact of Nuclear Weapons. These two events are key for discussing the issue of nuclear disarmament leading up to the 2015 review conference of theĀ Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
