Here’s what I wrote on facebook with your petition reference:

More social justice. Will there ever be time to write? I’m so busy with knee-jerk work to bolster the obvious, it’s easy to get out of sustained, protracted practice writing. Also easy to deny there’s use to it.

I will not conscience the construction of nuclear weapons, nor the mining of the materials to make them. Who reads that?

    • sandra stephensonOctober 30, 2017 at 8:16 am #

what I mean to do with this comment is highlight the mining of uranium. Canada is a leader in that, and that’s our chance to regulate nuclear weapons. Leave it in the ground. If we can campaign that way for oil, we can do it for uranium too.

One idea for supporting nuclear weapons was they are a tool to end all wars, out of fear of M.A.D. – did not work out that way!! [lots of wars going on]

The really big idea was that with many nations having nuclear weapons, none of them would use them out of fear of M.A.D. – but now Pres. Trump’s loose talk has made the “pre-emptive nuclear strike” an option worth considering for several nations!!

For eg. – by China on the USA – the first strike is almost a necessity to China’s survival if Trump plans to hit N. Korea with a nuke – and the strike by China has to be HUGE to destroy all the USA’s nukes.

There is NO justification for any nation to have nukes now – the best option is for all nations to get rid of them.

Why is Canada a member of NATO, ie , The North Atlantic Terrorist Organization.? . what use is it? If we were not a member ,that organization would not have had the power to prevent us from voting with the majority to rid the world of nuclear weapons. This Canadian PM has no BALLS

  4. William RogersOctober 17, 2017 at 8:21 pm #

God intended us to live in harmony, not to fight. War seldom – if ever – ends well.

How quickly we forget the horrors of war, especially the lasting devastation caused by nuclear weapons. Please, please ban nuclear bombs.

  6. DemetriosOctober 17, 2017 at 5:41 pm #

Ever since the USA destroyed hundreds of thousands of civilians with atomic bombs in WWII, the other major powers have been scrambling to acquire the same international clout of being able to kill with these nastiest of weapons of mass destruction. Later, even lesser powers wanted this retaliatory capability because they realized that it was a guarantee that they wouldn’t be bullied.

This whole ridiculous and extremely risky charade that the Americans started has brought us all to the brink of disaster. On top of all this, America has been going about acting like a virtuous example of responsibility when in truth it is the most unpredictably dangerous big gorilla that the world has become weary of.

The world has to make noise that this whole process of one-upmanship has got to stop! It’s truly sad that our young PM is really a participating member of the “establishment” and has no intention whatsoever to voice any objections to this madness. He is just another puppet of the USA and Israel, and even if he does the right thing and object internationally (which would make him an instant celebrity and leader of a wonderful movement), HE JUST WON’T DO IT! How shameful.

I have always felt that we would be a lot further along if we would launch boxes of food and medical supplies and clothing and housing at each other instead of bombs. Just a thought ….

    • Jacob RempelOctober 20, 2017 at 8:54 pm #

Yes, indeed! Our budget for our mis-named “defence” service could pay for not only all of Canada’s social welfare, but also aleviate much poverty in other countries, thereby also
      reducing a cause for war.

One Nuclear bomb can ruin your whole Climate Change adaptation strategy – in addition to your whole day. Nuclear weapons have no place on this planet if we want it to continue as the home for humanity and all the other plants and animals who are part of the web of life. In an age of climate disruption THERMOnuclear devices are insane. Thanks to all who are working for a Nuclear Weapons Ban.

  9. Lucille antonOctober 15, 2017 at 6:29 pm #

I am totally against nuclear weapons. Canadians want peace not war!

  10. Robert HunterOctober 14, 2017 at 10:56 pm #

There is no room for error with nuclear weapons; they must all be destroyed. Humans are incapable of keeping them unused as long as they continue to exist. But think of the result of removing nuclear weapons and realizing that we are no longer our greatest enemy! We could change the world into a completely cooperative community, not one that is controlled by fear! It is the greatest gift that we could leave to our children and our neighbours. A world and a future of peace!

Nice. If only it were possible! Do you think that this technology can be erased. Won’t everyone be fearful that the other guy is hiding something Everyone would be vulnerable to threats real or otherwise, so sorry, I do not see how banning will eliminate the threat of nuclear.

Thank you, Richard Bernier, for your comments. As an SGI Nichiren Buddhist, I have learned that we all must build peace in our own hearts and minds; we have to raise our life condition so that we are acting always from our higher selves; we have to take action to ensure that we are making all of the causes that we can that will create the effects that we want to see. As more and more people act from their wisdom, our environment will change to reflect that (the Buddhist concept of “esho funi”: the oneness of self and environment). We ARE all interconnected, and nuclear weapons have no place on our beautiful planet.

    It’s a no brainer!

Why did Trudeau first name Dion foreign minister and very soon afterward replace him with a war-monger/Russia -hater/admirer of her Ukrainian grandfather who was a propagandist for Hitler from the rise to the fall of the Third Reich? When we have the answer to this question we will know why he is the wolf in sheep’s clothing.
But we can’t wait. We MUST get out of NATO, especially with Trump at its helm!

  14. Gord DoctorowOctober 13, 2017 at 8:30 pm #

The Liberal government of Canada, like the Conservatives before it, are utterly committed to the aggressive NATO alliance with its nuclear first-strike doctrine. Time to say No to NATO.

    • Natalia SpirinaOctober 13, 2017 at 8:48 pm #

      stop nuclear weapons

    • EricOctober 13, 2017 at 9:30 pm #

Also time to say NO to Liberals.

And to the cold warriors of the NDP, who long ago adopted a right-wing foreign policy.

  15. Trueman MacHenryOctober 13, 2017 at 8:21 pm #

    Yes. Ban Nuclear Weapons.

  16. Richard BernierOctober 13, 2017 at 6:56 pm #

It is time to finally recognize that our greatest enemy is not not the person we dont’ like or understand but war itself which is mankind’s common enemy. We must match
our wisdom with our level of technology if we are to survive. Raising our level of awareness is a must and something we can learn and share with all the people of this planet.

I don’t know how big your distribution list is, but I suspect others nearby may be on it. We need your help in accreting the individuals within each political area (municipal/regional and provincial) so that we can work on local politicians to buy into Nuclear Prohibition. Perhaps you can send an Email to all your contacts inviting their permission to be identified to others who locally want to participate, and will self-organize accordingly. I suspect Prime Minister Trudeau will be more easily moved by mobilisation of the political hierarchy than by an electronic Email dump.

I heard a telling remark about Justin Trudeau this summer: Justin is not Pierre’s son, he’s Jimmy Sinclair’s grandson.

  19. Gordon ElmoreOctober 13, 2017 at 6:40 pm #

Canada should take the bull by the horns and cancel their membership in the U.N.
unless they agree to ban nuclear weapons. NATO is outdated, kick them out regardless what they think.

  20. Nick KubashOctober 13, 2017 at 5:33 pm #

It is understood by all that these kinds of weapons are exceedingly dangerous and destabilizing. It is a foregone conclusion that ANY use of these weapons will result in ALL life on Earth becoming extinct…

What is not commonly known is that there have been instances where our weapons have been disabled by beings of higher consciousness, who are deeply concerned for our civilizations direction. It falls not only on regular people to recognize the connection that these enlightened beings are trying to make us see, but also you – world leaders.

It behooves you to cease all prior understanding of why you feel you need to support nuclear proliferation and consider the grander vision of where humanity could be- absent these horrific weapons. What would be is a paradigm free of fear and war. A paradigm with no conflict or the need for governmental control over our lives. Maybe this is something YOU fear. That without these tools of mass-decimation, you would have no reason to be in “power.” Indeed, you require a means to manipulate the people through fear – as has been the requirement of every leader, throughout history. I cannot blame you for this, it is a consequence of the level of control we are ALL under – including yourself. You have your nature to contend with – as do we all. However, you have, so called “power”, to directly effect change in the lives of millions of people.

Regardless of whether or not you see validity or truth beyond my words, it is imperative that you open your eyes and strive for a wider vision of life. That we are not humans, isolated and alone within illusory divisions of land and race – but that we are intrinsically connected to the universe around us.

The enlightened races that have been observing us since time immemorial understand that, but they won’t make the changes for us. This is our problem to solve. Consider how you are thinking in regards to this subject. Consider where this world could be. Consider a wider reality that what you have been fronted, and ordered to front to us – the people of the Earth.

    Humbly,
    NK

iT MAKES IRREFUTABLE COMMON SENSE TO BAN ALL NUCLEAR WEAPONS FROM THIS EXTRAORDINARY PLANET OF OURS’…

  22. Paul R. MaasOctober 13, 2017 at 5:26 pm #

I became a Canadian because I thought that Canada believed in working for peace. Justin Trudeau appears to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. In speaking about his father’s National Energy Plan he said “I am not my father”. Quite true – not morally or intellectualy!

    • Nick KubashOctober 13, 2017 at 5:39 pm #

You hit it, Paul R. Maas.
Trudeau is a wolf, masquerading as “one of the people”
He’s part of the agenda… but like EVERYONE, he has his own choices to make. He could decide that he truly wants to make things right in the world.

However, if he were to make this decision, he would be removed from “power.” If voting truly made a difference, They wouldn’t let us do it. They only want in positions of “power”, those who can be controlled and who will be willing to go along with the globalist agenda.
