I know it is difficult but people in all countries have to stop thinking in terms of nation states and start to see only multinational banks and corporations as the main power brokers on all policies, period. The best example is that of the current rash of trade agreements such as NAFTA. All treaty provisions are about the gutting of the public sphere in any country. The public sphere is comprised of governmental services (such as Crown Corporations) and a countries natural resources as well as getting taxpayers to become permanent sources of subsidies. We are currently under threat from a new treaty, CETA the Canadian European Trade Agreement, soon to be sold to us through various lies and omissions. This agreement sells any and all our Canadian resources to the highest corporate bidder for pittance and destroys our domestic economy by giving equal negotiation rights to foreign multinationals on provincial governmental contracts. That is why our federal government has never removed the existing inter provincial trade barriers that currently help weaken our domestic economy so multinationals will always gain while smaller businesses loose. A good example is why and how so many millions of jobs in North America have gone overseas. A new way of seeing and dealing with our economy and the politicians that try to manipulate it has to emerge if we are going to avoid the chaos being planned. We used to think all businesses wanted stability but they have long known how to profit from uncertainty as evidence by the winners of the latest recession.

    Fort America:

Is this to be the fate of our society, the fate of humanity? Have we evolved over the millennia only to be imprisoned by paranoia, hiding behind secure walls and elaborate security and defense systems? How many billions of dollars are we prepared to spend on perpetuating fear? Who is this enemy that we fear so greatly, and what is the real threat? What does this enemy want, that we’re so afraid of surrendering?

You’ve heard it before, and I’ll say it again: The enemy is fear itself, and those people who perpetuate it and do their best to instill it in others. Those who preach division and dissent with a vision of war and conquest in their hearts, not one of peace and unity, a reality they build upon, the future they look to. What they envision, so will they achieve.

The age of fear and must end, the time for war has passed. The world can no longer afford the cost of supporting a culture of war. A culture rooted in conquest, oppression, greed and ignorance.

The age of the bully has passed. A new age of enlightenment must begin. A time for honesty and the engagement of intelligent minds, a time to tear down barriers, the divisions rooted in fear and prejudice. The survival of humanity depends on it.

Let the world be governed by intelligence and truth rather than military might, economic strength, and the quest for constant growth. Growth ends in maturity. Let us have a more mature world, united in spirit with a concern for human rights and needs, rather than corporate ones. It’s time for the lion to lie down with the lamb.

This is a complete violation of our right to move freely about the land. Harper no longer speaks on my behalf! I would kindly ask him to cease and desist..

Stealth Bombers and fortress Walls are neither our most effective methods of diplomacy nor the most prudent use of our resources. We need a new vision for peace and prosperity.

    Mr. Harper,
I believe the majority of Canadian people do not agree with your tactics that have proven not to be in the best interest for our Canada. We marched in the streets a year ago when you shamefully prorogued Parliament for the second time. We will mobilize again (there are already thousands of Canadians who communicate with each other from that eventful day), this time there will be more of us I can guarantee it, if you continue to try and dismantle the democracy that our forefathers fought and died for. A great many Canadians take offense to the tactics that were used during the G20 of kettling and caging our Canadian brothers and sisters. Mr. Harper this is not your Canada alone, it is our Canada and you have embarrassed us on the world stage. The reputation we have long prided ourselves on as being peace keepers no longer exists. We want to maintain our sovereignty. Perhaps you are hoping that the apathy of most Canadians will allow you to rule as you and your party see fit, but we are waking up, the more damage you do to our democracy will continue to wake us up and we will continue to make sure those who still are unaware of your legacy to date become enlightened. You once went on record saying that ordinary Canadians don’t support the arts, that’s my line of work. I took notice of you then and continued to educate myself of the current governance of my country and I did not like what I saw and still don’t. You said also something to the effect of “you won’t recognize Canada when I’m through with it”. Mr. Harper, I do want to recognize it again, more than anything I want my son to know the Canada that I grew up in and be welcomed in pretty much any country with his Canadian flag displayed proudly on his backpack.

I am a proud Canadian and wish to remain so as long as I live.
Just who the hell does Harper think he is going forward with this plan without our knowledge or consent?
He treats us Canadians like we are stupid and he knows what is best for us. In my humble opinion, what would be best would be to get out of NAFTA entirely, return Canadians to a manufacturing and farming base, invest in small businesses and protect our resources. We should all worry about our water resources in lieu of this deal, what is stopping the USA from just taking it all and leaving us a dribble or two? Harper talks mostly about globalization, the new buzzword these talking heads use, in fact, I saw a speech he gave recently where he said “Canadians have to stop thinking we have a Canadian economy and realize it is a global economy”.
Pardon me but since when did our economy cease to exist? Since when was it ok to give up what our nation fought so hard to achieve?
He is making a deal with the most corrupt “democratically elected” nation on earth. A nation that keeps lists of “domestic terrorists” that includes anyone who champions for humans rights, animals rights, labor rights, who is anti-government, who is a constitutionalist, who supports Ron Paul, environmentalists, military veterans and patriots like Oathkeepers…and especially anyone who is a member of a state militia. Lets remember why militias exist, they are to fight tyranny within the government, they are the people’s army. Let’s not forget that Obama has put out calls for the assassination of at least one american citizen and Ron Paul this week hinted there are a few more on that list. Nice neighbors we have down south.
Once the USA Terrorist Marketing Plan Post 9/11 goes full speed ahead in Canada they will start asking us to spy on and snitch on our neighbors, co-workers, fellow walmart (evil store) shoppers…this marketing plan keeps people frightened and isolated from community and they are so much easier to control and manipulate when frightened peeking through the curtains.
The harmonization of our food should be of great cause to worry as well since the US government is approving the newest genetically modified foods almost weekly despite public backlash and court decisions. It is getting harder all the time to find safe food to eat thanks to them and the poisoning of our earth by companies like Monsanto, Dow and Dupont…since when should toxic chemical companies be allowed to own our food? These are the companies that brought us Agent Orange, dioxin, DDT and RoundUp. Is it any wonder bees, birds, fish, seals, butterflies, octupi and frogs are dying? Is it any wonder americans are dying at unheard of rates of cancer and lung diseases that simply don’t exist in places like Africa? Ask yourself why Monsanto is developing aluminum resistant crops right this moment when there is evidence chemtrails are real, not a figment of our imagination and not contrails? Aluminum nitrates and barium are the key component of chemtrails and crops will not survive the assault….but Monsanto will save the day with their newest frankenfood aluminum resistant. I believe Monsanto is doing the spraying.
I am so upset over this I could cry and believe me, I have been.

1984 is here! Homeland Security has installed “telescreens” in Wal-Marts across the U.S. Now, they want the population to snitch on each other. Brrrr…

  9. Bill JacksonFebruary 5, 2011 at 10:05 pm #

Whether or not we agree with American policy isn’t the only issue. The main issue is our independence. At the start of WW II the Canadian government took pains to act independently of Britain. Obviously we had the same interests at that time. To give our independence away to another foreign power now, is extreme lack of vision — at best.

Regardless of whether you are pro- or anti- American, are you pro-Canadian?

  10. Doug CunninghamFebruary 5, 2011 at 9:58 pm #

I suppose you have to cut Harper some slack with regard to dealing with the Yanks. They have invaded us on numerous occasions, and may be persuaded to do it again. Of all the P.M.s I have lived through I thought Trudeau and Diefenbaker dealt with America best. Closer ties gets us what? Our military might be happier, but not for long, they are so much better than the American model.

  11. Charles StewartFebruary 5, 2011 at 5:39 pm #

It is bad enough that in our shortsighted governments moves to be more conomically sound, they have sold controlling shares to ALL of our Canadian corporations to companies that originate south of the border. This includes Tim Hortons, not to mention our beer. This type of behavious is what caused the loss of the Hudson Bay Company, our national heritage. Canada is now WIDE OPEN to the USA to just waltz right on in here and take over. The only thing left that is keeping Canada afloat is our tar sands, without the reveues from the tar sands, Canada will cease to exist and all of this boils down to shear mismanagement by all federal governing parties for not looking to Canada to keep Canada rolling but instead welcoming US enterprises to do so on our behalf. Now they want to roll their military on in here? Sadly, Canada will soon be nothing but few pages in a history book.

My Fellow Canadian And American Friends-

North American Union Is Now Upon Us. Prime Minister Harper And Obama Have Formally Announced Plans To Create A Common Security Perimeter For The North American Continent, As Called For By The C.F.R And The C.C.C.E And Adopted Into The Security And Prosperity Partnership Framework, Being Implemented Right Now!

They Have Called For The Real Time Tracking Via Biometric And RFID Technology Of All Travelers In North America, The Full Integration Of Our Law Enforcement Teams, Harmonizing Our Laws And Standards And The Thinning And Eventual Removal Of The Internal, Physical Borders- The Consolidation Of North America.

This Directly Puts American, Canadian And Mexican Sovereignty At Risk. The Definition Of Sovereignty Is A Nations Ability To Self Govern, Self Determination. How Can We Self Govern If We Are Obligated Under Law Or Treaty To Follow The Wishes Of Another Party Or Interest? Placing National Security Into The Hands Of An Entity That Is Not OF Canada And Cannot Know What Is In The Best Interest Of Canadians Sounds Like A Dangerous, Unconstitutional And Reckless Idea To Me!

At A Time When A Growing Majority Of American Citizens Are Currently Fighting Against The Police State And Abuses Of Federal And State Powers, We Canadians Want To Integrate And Harmonize Our National Security Laws And Policies With The Likes Of The Department Of Homeland Security? We Have Been Proud That We Have Not Adopted Naked Body Scanners And Having Our Genitals Grouped Before Boarding A Plane, We Have Prided Ourselves On The Many Differences And The Many Freedoms We Have Been Able To Preserve Here In Canada, Its Our Sovereignty And Independence That Allows Us To Choose A Slightly Different Path And Policy Then Our Neighbours To The South Allowing For A Truly Canadian Experience… But Now We Want To Limit Our Ability To Fine Tune, To Assess Situations And To Act In The Best Manner For Canada By Obligating Ourselves Through Security Perimeter Deals All In The Name Of Increased Security And Trade?

Its Obvious Who Has The Ear Of Our Government! Its The CFR In America And The CCCE in Canada. Which Companies Make Up These Groups? Are They Represented In Both Canada And The United States? In Canada, Are They Mostly American Corporations? If So, Who Then Has The Ear Of Our Government And Writes Public Policy That Our Politicians Simply Rubber Stamp Into Law?

Our Government Is Obviously Not Listening To The People, So Who Are They Listing To? If Your A Canadian And Ask Yourself These Questions You Find That When Our Government Goes To Our Business Community For Their Input, The Input They Are Getting Is From American/Foreign Corporations Not Canadian Citizens!

Is There Any Wonder Why They Would Want To Eliminate Our Borders To Speed Up The Flow Of Goods And People? We Are Their Trade Barrier! Our Sovereignty Is Their Trade Barrier, Our National Borders Are Their Trade Barrier And Since These Are Things In Which A Corporation That Operates On Both Sides Of The Border Needs To Eliminate And Since They Hold No Loyalty Or Sense Of National Belonging They Could Care Less Of How This Affects Our National Sovereignty.

Since Our Government Has No Power To Give Away Our National Sovereignty, They Need To Trick Us Into Thinking That They Indeed Do Have This Power Or Trick Us Into Putting The Question To A Vote Or Referendum In Which They Can Manipulate To Control The Outcome Of. They Need People To Get Angry And Demand A Vote! Demand That This Is Debated In The House.. Because They Themselves With No Power Cannot Even Ask The Question.. They Need Us To Demand Something In Which They Have No Power To Do Themselves.

The Proper Response Would Not Be To Demand A Vote Or A Referendum But Rather That The Governments Cease And Desist Immediately And Kindly Remind Them That They Have No Power To Change The Face Of Canada As Their Offices Are Temporary And Limited By Constitution, A Constitution That Expressly Prohibits North American Union And Was One Of The Main Reasons It Was Created (In Canada- To Resist American Expansionism)

Now Is The Time Canada, To Stand Up And Say To Our Government That They Don’t Have Our Consent And That We Will Not And Expressly Refuse To Participate In Their Sedition By Going Along With Any Proposed Illegal Referendum Or Vote Or Scheme. We Refuse To Put Our Pieces On Their Grand Chessboard Because We All Know The Game Is Rigged And We Are Not Obligated To Play.

    Stop The North American Union!

For Canada to be in cahoots with the US and its flaky empire-building foreign-policy is patently stupid, if not suicidal. It flies in the face of everything we stand for, including our strength at being a good neighbor. So, this so-called US/Canada fortification is simply the latest inveiglement-strategy.
… – – which is quite bad enough with the current federal government.

I am a Canadian Citizen and I want to continue being so.

I really think that the present Government of our beloved country is waisting lots of money on weapons and the military that would be needed for better causes.

Not to weapons and gun dealers!!!!!!.

The Americans interfere and have caused far more trouble around our globe than we will ever know in the name of democracy. How about a little democracy at home, Mr. Harper, sir, and let parliament decide how we wish to be seen in the world, independent of any alliance with the U.S.

Fortress North America means going along with USA foreign policy.

The War on Terror is a FRAUD.

America is and has been a country built on Terror. America has been at war most of its history. America lies to the world and its own people.

Canadians do not want to be part of the USA.

The opposition needs to oppose Harpers move for a Fortress America covering North America.

What about addressing this issue in Parliament? I sent a message to Stephen Harper on this site, I think, but I did not receive confirmation it had gone.
