Urgent global problems require global solutions. Will you help us?

Never has a commitment to global peace and justice been more important.

We may not have the option of electing a government ready to make the sweeping changes necessary to avoid the twin disasters of climate breakdown and ecological collapse . But we must do our utmost to ensure that we don’t end up with a leader who will stand in the way.

The gathering of world leaders at the UN General Assembly later in September offers an unprecedented opportunity for Prime Minister Trudeau to demonstrate how Canada will contribute to a new global diplomatic effort to reduce nuclear dangers.

We call on Prime Minister Trudeau to demonstrate his commitment to strengthening the UN’s conflict prevention and crisis response capacity by supporting and advocating for a United Nations Emergency Peace Service (UNEPS).

On Canada’s role in the global arms trade, in responding to the growing nuclear peril, and in helping end the dangerous American confrontation with Iran, the Justin Trudeau Liberals need concrete, credible and courageous diplomatic peacemaking and peacebuilding options.

What can be more important for the “rules based international order” that Foreign Minister Freeland purports to champion than binding nuclear arms control agreements? Canadian leadership please!
