Harper has announced that he will fast-track new anti-terrorism laws that will give yet more draconian powers to police forces and spy agencies – including expanding their power of so-called “preventive” arrest.
If you want to stop Harper from creating a national “thought police,” please write to your local media. We need to let people know what is going on!

It was sadness first and foremost for the tragic loss of two Canadian soldiers – but it was also impelled by our seeming societal inability for whatever reasons ( and hopefully we will eventually find out what those reasons are) to intervene in the lives of two very disturbed young men in a way that might have prevented them from taking those two innocent lives in the first place.
The tragic events occurring in Ottawa and St-Jean-sur-Richelieu this past week, resulting in the deaths of two military personnel, have led to outrage and sadness, but also a recommitment to Canadian values, throughout the country.
The view that one particular religious doctrine is uniquely extremist will not help us understand the cycles of brutality that have fed on years of circulating narratives and images of torture, violent murder, and desecration.
