The Harper government plans to spend $1 billion for a new fleet of attack drones for Canada. Do you trust armed drones in the hands of Stephen Harper?

It’s up to us stop Harper, and there’s an easy way you can do that right now.

On Sunday, March 3rd, thousands of Canadians will send letters to Prime Minister Harper and their local MP demanding that the government does not buy a fleet of attack drones.

When you sign up on Ceasefire.ca, and you will be sent an alert on March 3rd to make your voice heard: “No attack drones!”

In the meantime, will you share this graphic on Facebook to help send 10,000 messages to Stephen Harper?

The media is ignoring the story, but we can inform Canadians ourselves about what is going on.

We’re going to stop these attack drones, I’m sure of it. We just have to keep working hard.

Stop killing us, if you dont care about us, think about your kids and their future. How can this go on, how can you keep killing our country, our planet and our rights to live in a safe environment

Is Ceasefire against usage of all drones?

  5. James Klassen Says:

Canada needs attack drones as much as we need F-35`s. As usual Harper has his own private agenda and will do whatever it takes to achieve them. We no longer live in a democracy thanks to Harper; the sooner he`s out the better. If only we had an impeachment process…

  6. Mary Derksen Says:

Canada used to be known as a “peace” country. What’s with all the drones and warfare planes, jets, etc. Let “peace” be our armory!

  7. Dr S Taylor Says:

What a ridulously aggressive waste of money; typical of Harper government foreign policies – kill first and ask questions later

  8. Max Morin Says:

I reject the thought of Canada being subjected to own attack drones, after Harper is defeated in next election, they would be useless.

I wouldn’t trust harperete with a plastic fork.

I would only wish to pay for a drone which would land on harperete’s house, once he let the cat outside. These predator corporatist government hounds (no offense to our dog friends) should all receive them as gifts from the taxpayers who wish they would stop bombing our neighbours and allow us all to live in peace.
This is not a democracy nor a government. It acts like and actually is an irresponsible corporation. canada is listed as a corporation on the usa securities exchange commission. This would be why our faux government works in secrecy and is not accountable to anyone except its puppet masters.

This blog looks very childish and cartoonish at best. Why are drone pilots wearing oxygen masks, why do they appear so evil like? Machines cannot offer ill will against people, so why indicate that they can?

You have produced some classical propaganda with this blog post, dehumanizing and villainizing the subject at hand and painting all militaries with the same brush. You make the Canadian Forces out to be cold blooded killers with no souls or morals.

This makes your campaign very immature to most people, if you want a serious discussion about military policy please do so. Please stop with the childish acts such as this display, it is beneath you and your objectives.

I don’t agree at all with the Harper government plans to spend $1 billion for a new fleet of attack drones for Canada, and plan to participate in the March 3 campaign to inform Harper and my MP of my disagreement. However, I agree with this commenter. The graphic appears — to me — to appeal more to those who play ‘war video games’ than the common citizen — those who already participating in ‘war making’ as a game/sport. It is not one that I could even consider posting on my Facebook page.

    • Patrick Borden Says:

Childish? Perhaps. Perhaps a more mature graphic would be an image of a wedding party being attacked by a drone, or of a drone attack on people trying to tend to the wounded. Or a simple image of a Pakistani father carrying the body of his innocent daughter, killed in yet another drone attack.
Having a drone fleet will make Canada a member of the long list of states that wage terrorism on the innocent, for this is precisely the purpose of drones. And everyone who wants Canada’s military to be respected will recognize that drones are antithetical to military honour. All of you nationalists out there need to get on side and stand up for Canada… and against Harper!
