Stop Harper’s pro-war lobby and the stealth fighters, say Ceasefire.ca supporters

Dear Ceasefire.ca supporter,

Challenging the pro-war lobby and wasteful military spending should be the top priority for Ceasefire.ca, according to its many supporters.

More than 1,500 people answered the Ceasefire.ca annual New Year’s Day member survey and contributed 200 comments. Challenging the F-35 stealth fighter program was raised many times as an example of alarming militarism run
amok under the Harper Conservatives.

“Keep up your excellent work distributing information on the Stealth Fighter debacle, especially considering the upcoming budget, where it will undoubtedly be highlighted even though many essential services will have their funding
reduced,” urged Garth Jones, echoing the comments of many other supporters.

Satisfaction with the frequency of Ceasefire.ca’s emails remains very high this year. More than 82% said they felt the frequency of articles emailed to supporters was “just right,” which remained unchanged from the 2011 survey.
This figure was a significant increase from the number of people who felt the number of emails was “just right” in 2010 (77%).

Ceasefire.ca supporters would overwhelmingly support the NDP (70% of decided respondents) if an election were held tomorrow, followed by the Green Party (18%) and the Liberals (11%). Thirteen per cent of respondents said they were
undecided.

Ceasefire.ca supporters are increasingly embracing social media: half of supporters use Facebook. Twitter is catching on slowly: one in eight people have a Twitter account in 2012. This is an increase from the one in ten supporters who had a Twitter account in 2011. Click the links below to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

Thanks for everything you do for peace and social justice.
