The United Nations’ High Representative for Disarmament, Angela Kane, is among those asking Canada to sign the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty
So far 115 countries have signed the UN Arms Trade Treaty, including the United States, the U.K., France, and many other allies — but the Harper government has not signed.
Canadian arms exports to countries in conflict or known for human violations are on the increase, an analysis by the Canadian Press shows.
The Harper government plans to eliminate restrictions on the export of a large range of military-related goods.
