Tsutomu Yamaguchi dead at 93
Tsutomu Yamaguchi, the only official survivor of both the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, died Monday at the age of 93. Yamaguchi was in Hiroshima on business on August 6th, 1945 when the first atomic bomb was dropped. He returned to his home in Nagasaki the following day and was in his office at work on August 9th when the second bomb was dropped.
The Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs are the only ones that have been used in warfare to date. More than 200,000 people were killed by the bombs and their after-effects.
