Global Zero, a project working for the elimination of nuclear weapons by 2030, has released a video in which celebrities such as Martin Sheen, Morgan Freeman, and Whoopi Goldberg urge U.S. President Barack Obama to rededicate humself to his 2009 call to eliminate nuclear weapons.

“Make no mistake, when we fail to pursue peace, then it stays forever beyond our grasp. It will take patience, and persistance, but we must ignore the voices that tell us the world cannot change.”

President Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin will be meeting on the sidelines of the G8 Summit, on June 17th and 18th. Sign the petition to help Global Zero call on Obama to seek further reductions in the U.S. and Russian nuclear weapons stockpiles. Despite the end of the Cold War nearly 24 years ago, the U.S. and Russia continue to hold a total of about 16,000 nuclear weapons.
