Support for the mission in Afghanistan has fallen markedly among Canadians, a new Angus Reid poll shows. According to the polling firm, 39 percent of Canadians currently support the Afghanistan mission, while 56 percent oppose it. In February, the same question showed 47 percent support and 49 percent opposition. (A recent EKOS poll showed somewhat similar results, with 36 percent of Canadians supporting the mission and 49 percent opposing it.)
The new Angus Reid poll also asked whether Canada “made a mistake or did the right thing in sending military forces to Afghanistan.” According to the poll, 36 percent believe that Canada did the right thing, while 42 percent view the decision as having been a mistake.
