8th Annual Ottawa Peace Festival to kick-off Sunday September 21st
In cooperation with Ottawa civil society groups, Canadian Peace Initiative is holding its 8th Annual Ottawa Peace Festival from September 21st to October 2nd. The 12-day peace festival with 29 events celebrates the United Nations International Days of Peace and Nonviolence. The events include peace exhibits, film screenings, musical performances, public talks, peace awards, and symposia.

The Rideau Institute along with Afghanistan: Pathways to Peace is participating in this year’s Ottawa Peace Festival through a panel event on Monday, September 29th called “Pursuing an Afghan Peace: Women, Civil Society and Blue Helmets”.
The panel will be held from 12 noon to 1 pm in the auditorium of the Ottawa Public Library (Main Branch) at 120 Metcalfe Street, Ottawa.
Panelists include Dr. Walter Dorn, Professor of Defence Studies at the Royal Military College of Canada and editor of the new volume Air Power in UN Operations: Wings for Peace, and Najia Haneefi, Co-founder and Executive Board member of Afghan Women’s Political Participation Committee.
