Oh, the ignominy! Harper's foreign policy lands at the UN

UN members denied Canada a coveted seat at the UN Security Council Tuesday. In a last ditch effort to avoid a complete defeat, Canada withdrew its bid before what was expected to be a complete drubbing by member states as support swung to Portugal over Canada.

At home, the Harper government tried to blame the Liberals and other critics for Canada’s defeat. Opposition parties said it was Harper’s foreign policy. Others will point out that Canada’s poor performance on foreign aid, climate change, and UN peacekeeping reaches back into Liberal governments as well.
