Ceasefire.ca fights back on Sun TV

Dear Ceasefire.ca supporter,

First, I want to say thank you very much for your support. Many members of our Ceasefire.ca community sent helpful words of encouragement following this latest attack from Sun TV and Harper’s pro-war lobby.

People wrote very thoughtful letters to me personally, took part in our survey, and even joined our Peacekeepers monthly donor club or made special donations to show their support.

Many of the comments I received urged me to not appear on Sun TV to indulge or legitimize the station and its right-wing views, and I read them all carefully.

But over 1800 people took a moment to participate in our online poll, and the overwhelming opinion (67%) was that I should go on Sun TV to confront the attacks from the pro-war lobby.

In the end, I was reminded of my commitment, in that “controversial” fundraising letter to you, that I would confront Stephen Harper and his pro-war lobbyists “at every turn.”

So that’s what I did.

I appeared on Sun TV Monday night in a 9-minute defence of myself and our Ceasefire.ca community. You can watch the video for yourself, if you like.

All I can say is I did my best, and I hope you agree that we did not leave the charges unanswered.

As we become more effective at challenging Harper, these attacks are going to become more frequent, and much worse.

If you are already signed up as a member of our Peacekeepers monthly donor club, then you are providing essential support for us to face these attacks.

Thank you!

If you’d like to join, change your regular contribution amount, or even make a special one-time gift, please take action right away:

We have still not reached our goal of raising $10,000 by the end of the year to confront Harper’s pro-war lobby. Any contribution you can afford certainly helps.

Thanks for everything you do for peace.

Steven Staples, Ceasefire.ca

P.S. Watch my response to Sun TV’s attacks, and make a donation to support our work against the pro-war lobby.
