Except I’m not trying ro troll. My intention is to show my views to understand why I don’t agree, rather than getting kicks out of it. Basically having a debate. I’m not insulting you or anyone.

        I mean to.

Spelling error in my response. I said ro instead of to.

For those of you who think Canada shouldn’t have a military so we can’t participate in these wars, it’s still our duty, the duty of a country, to be able to defend themselves. As long as we can meet our NATO and NORAD requirements and defend ourselves, according to the priorities of the Canada First Defence Strategy (which, in my opinion, is the only thing from it that’s not obsolete), we actually have the luxury of picking our own battles. And no, increasing military spending and participating in some battles doesn’t make Canada an extension of the US military.

Well, a ceasefire has been called in Syria within a week, and the US realized that air strikes alone accomplish nothing, so their secretary of defence is coming up with a new strategy that could involve boots on the ground because the military forces we are training have some problems.

There are some faults, but Option B is to let Russia do the work of dealing with ISIS (which they could do), while the US and allies withdraw to deal with other security issues.

The ceasefire will not apply to the ISIS fight, just to the Syria vs. Rebels fight.
